Activities at provincial office

  • The New Provincial office was launched in 2019 with much excitement. Two AGMs were held for the period.
  • The importance of policies and forums were highlighted in the 2020 AGM.
  • The COVID-!9 pandemic has been upon us since March 2020 and as such has limited our activities however in response to this, the Provincial office has supplied PPE to affiliates.  Our office also recognises the psycho-social impact that this has had on our affiliates social work staff hence our psycho-social component has provided support sessions.  These support sessions highlighted the importance of self-care during such turbulent and demanding times.  Three components were highlighted; compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress and burnout. These components have far-reaching implications for social work practice and the service provided to clients hence we have been raising awareness around this topic.  We have highlighted the importance of self-care and looked at different strategies that can be incorporated into the daily routine.
We continue providing support in this regard in 2021
  • Our governance component has provided capacity building training to some our affiliates and continue to do so.  These trainings are well-received and proving beneficial.
  • We are looking forward to the rolling out of our programmes and statutory component in due course.
