What is Child Trafficking?
It is an illegal activity whereby children are sold or kidnapped, transported and used for the purpose ofmainly:
- Sexual exploitation
- Adoption
- Forced labour
Who is at risk?
- Any child can be at risk therefore caregivers need to be vigilant
- Vulnerable children
- Young mothers with poor support systems
- Children heading households
Tips for Caregivers
- Do not allow children to walk alone. There is safety in numbers
- Know the whereabout of children in your care at all times
- Verify information and promises of employment and study opportunities
- Educate children about stranger danger
- Educate children about what to do if they feel unsafe
