What is Child Trafficking?

It is an illegal activity whereby children are sold or kidnapped, transported and used for the purpose ofmainly:

  • Sexual exploitation
  • Adoption
  • Forced labour

Who is at risk?

  • Any child can be at risk therefore caregivers need to be vigilant
  • Vulnerable children
  • Young mothers with poor support systems
  • Children heading households

Tips for Caregivers

  • Do not allow children to walk alone. There is safety in numbers
  • Know the whereabout of children in your care at all times
  • Verify information and promises of employment and study opportunities
  • Educate children about stranger danger
  • Educate children about what to do if they feel unsafe
